CORINTHIAN-CASUALS FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED

After years of progressively worsening and expensive ongoing problems with our old Metal Halide
gas discharge pitch floodlighting, we decided to replace these with a modern LED floodlighting
system mounted on the existing poles.

Following extensive review of the market we short listed 4 companies for final consideration, ranging
from a large established international corporation to medium and smaller sized specialist companies.

Quotes were called in, evaluated and due diligence performed, following which we selected Direct
Sports Lighting, a smaller sports lighting specialist company with no diverse operational priorities
who can focus their full attention on performance and offered the best Average and Goalmouth
light levels and best Uniformity with the lowest weight lamp fitting, low windage, a maximum
warranty period and a competitive price, using top of the range components (Samsung LED’s,
Lumileds LED chip, Inventronics high efficiency constant current driver, etc).

Despite this being a late decision, they were able to fit us in to their busy close season installation
schedule and were true to their word, arriving on site and completing installation and handover in the quoted 3-4 days.
Independent certification, required for all pitches in the FA Pyramid, confirmed that our new LED
floodlights provide an average across the full pitch of over 77% more light at ground level than before with an improvement of 34% in uniformity.

Our previous Metal Halide Gas Discharge lamps each consumed 2kw of power, increasing with time as their efficiency and Power Factor dropped, and required significant ongoing costly maintenance.

Our new LED lamps each consume 1kw of power which should remain relatively stable with time, and require no maintenance other than occasional cleaning should the light output fall due to dirty lenses.
In rough summary the electricity operating costs for these are more than halved, with no significant ongoing maintenance costs.

After nearly 2 playing seasons usage we remain delighted with their reliability and performance.
